General Enquiries About Glass

Why is it important to replace my windscreen?

Damaged glass can construct your vision, reducing your ability to see or avoid accidents. A properly installed glass can also prevent passenger ejection and/or roof-collapse in the unfortunate case you are in an accident. Your windscreen also allows for your airbags to deploy properly.

Does Veltrio only deal with car windscreens?

No, we specialize in Automotive glass. That means we repair and replace windscreens, rearscreens, door glass, quarter glass, vents, frames, sliders etc.

Do you replace sunroofs?

Yes, but only a limited amount. Contact us to find if a particular sunroof is available.

Is there a warranty on the glass?

Yes, Veltrio offers a 6 month workmanship warranty.

Types of Glass

Does the type of glass matter?

Yes, Veltrio uses laminated glass which has two layers of glass with a special bonding formula inbetween that prevents the glass from shattering upon impact. The special bonding holds the glass together and is strong enough to prevent something/one from coming into and/or out of your car.

Are the Car door glass different from the windscreen?

Yes, while the windscreen is usually made up of laminated glass, the door glass is tempered glass. Tempered glass has gone through extreme heating and cooling to make 5 times stronger than regualr glass. However, when broken, tempered glass breaks into tiny pebbles instead of shards to prevent damage upon breakage. Therefore it is still clasified as a dafety glass.

Wait Time

How long must I wait until I can wash my car after replacing it's  windscreen?

The general rule of thumb is to wait 24 hours. Depending on the polyurethane used to seal the windscreen, it might be sooner. Always check with your fitter on the appropriate time to wait.

How long does it take for my windscreen to fully settle after a fit?

We refer to this as safe drive away time and it depends on what type of polyurethane used and on the climate at the time. The safest time to wait is 24 hours although you can ask the fitter on the exact time. Refer to the products tab to see the safe drive away times of each polyurethane.

I've changed my windscreen but It still fogs up in cold weather?

It's to do with the temperature inside the vehicle? Could be a seal failure where the windscreen wasn't sealed properly. Come to our nearest branch to have your windscreen checked out.

How do I know that there is a rain sensor on my windscreen?

The rain sensor is usually in a large black circular area on your windscreen. Depending on your car make and model, this will either be at the very top or bottom of the inside or outside of your windscreen.
